Youth Tobacco Cessation Toolkit
The National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) is pleased to announce its new, updated youth tobacco cessation toolkit and accompanying facilitator’s guide. These resources have been in development since 2009. Funded by Health Canada, these resources have been created with the guidance of a multi-stakeholder steering committee which included the NAFC’s Aboriginal Youth Council, the Aboriginal Nurses Association of Canada, the National Aboriginal Health Organization and the Canadian Council for Tobacco Control.

SOADI / TEACH Frontline Training
This 41-page training package is the result of a collaboration between TEACH and the Southern Ontario Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative (SOADI) It gives community health workers in the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities across Southern Ontario access to evidence-based information on diabetes prevention and management for adults and children, nutrition, physical activity, foot care, stress, commercial tobacco cessation, and gestational diabetes. Created by Vancouver Coastal Health’s Tobacco Dependence Clinic (TDC), this 8-week group program is based on the transtheoretical model of change and utilizes Canadian-specific group protocols.
