STOP with Addictions Agencies

The STOP with Addictions program began implementing in October 2012.  The goals of this program are to:

  1. Improve access to Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) for Addictions Agency clients across the province of Ontario who want to quit smoking; and
  2. Increase the capacity of addictions practitioners to provide comprehensive smoking cessation counselling to their clients.

Addictions Agencies participating in the STOP Program are provided with cost-free NRT for their clients, along with ongoing training support and knowledge exchange opportunities for practitioners to encourage them to incorporate up-to-date smoking cessation treatment approaches into their routine practice.

Get Involved: Information for individuals who wish to quit smoking

Who can participate: Individuals who are clients of participating Addictions Agencies may enroll in this program through their Agency. The participating Agencies reach out to their clients in a variety of ways. There may be eligibility requirements for enrollment at your Agency. This program is only open to residents of Ontario who currently smoke cigarettes.

When: Enrollment times vary and are determined by each participating Addictions Agency.

If you are a client of an Addictions Agency in Ontario, you can contact your Agency to find out if they are a STOP Program partner currently enrolling eligible participants.

If you do not currently access addiction services, please refer to the other pages on this website for more opportunities to participate in the STOP Program.
